Hi all,
I haven't got anything to fancy as my desktop, but I'm a firm believer of as little icons as possible on the desktop.

Here is my beginners desktop. If anyone knows how to make the icons smaller, please let me know.
I got a wallpaper that would not clash with the icons.
If anyone has any advice on how to make my desktop better, please let me know. I like to keep things accessible from the desktop.

How do I put more icons in the QUICK LAUNCH BAR? It only takes 3 things, then it bumps 1 icon out.

Thanks smile.gif

There's not enough space on your taskbar. Use http://www.desktopsidebar.com/ like Liz smile.gif.

Notice you use 2 compression utils (winzip and ultimatezip)...don't need to. Don't recommend Antivir...very low test scores. Looks like you're using a notebook smile.gif

The icons in Liz's side bar are so small, I doubt that I would be able to tell what they are.

Warm Regards

The icons in Liz's sidebar are the same as those in your current quicklaunch bar.

I agree coathanger007 ..Anti Virus personal is not a recommend choice.

The onboard scaning engine is good ...but the updates are far and few.. plus

what it prompts the user to delete[Criticial system files] ....when it detects a

I noticed a couple of P2P programs on your desk top Veronica. Kazaa in particular !

That "bad boy" is nothing but trouble ...its a garbage dump infected with alot

Oooohhh...I think I know what you're looking for smile.gif
Free Launch Bar is a Free replacement for the standard Quick Launch bar. All functions presented in Quick Launch are also in Free Launch Bar. However, the Free Launch Bar is fully compatible with Quick Launch because it uses the same folder for shortcuts. But there is one huge difference. Free Launch Bar allows you to combine your shortcuts into groups. This feature looks like popup menus. This vastly improves the management of your shortcuts and save working space on your desktop. By using Free Launch Bar, you speed up the launching of your applications like never before. Free Launch Bar is the excellent replacement for Quick Launch, it uses the same technology. Free Launch Bar is the only FREE software that can be integrated into taskbar. If your Quick Launch have some tens of shortcuts, Free Launch Bar help you to organize them into nice menus. You do not need to open stupid dialog boxes to add, remove or rearrange shortcuts - all you need Drag&Drop or right-click shortcut.

It is Kazaa Lite.

The deleting critical files part with Antivirus XP Personal Edition would explain a lot.

Thank you both.

I tried to uninstall Antivirus XP from the add/remove program. It got stuck. I

clicked the Task Manager. It said the uninstall was not responding. I ended

program with Task Manager. I turned off the PC. A blue screen with text came

up. It said Something about memory dump. It restarted itself. I tried to uninstall

Antivirus again. It said the program may already be uninstalled. It asked me if I

wanted to remove the icon from the Add/Remove program. I clicked yes. I tried

to uninstall it from the Programs on the menu. It did nothing. I went to program

files on Drive C. Antivirus XP file was there. Its contents are 19.5MB.

I would like the space. What should I do now?

Thank you

Well, there you have it....another compelling reason not to use Antivir biggrin.gif

Download the latest version of Antivir, install it then unistall it. If that doesn't work then use Total Uninstall:
Total Uninstall can help you to monitor any changes that were made to your system during installation of a new software product and allow you to perform a complete uninstall without having to rely on the supplied uninstall program (which may leave files or changes behind). To use it, you simply launch the installation program from the Total Uninstall interface and select the system areas to be monitored. The program will then create a snapshot of your system before it installs the new software and an additional snapshot after install completes. it then compares the two snapshots and displays all changes n a nice, graphical tree view, marking all values and/or files that have been added or changed as well as some before/after details. Total Uninstall will save these changes and if you decide to uninstall the application, it will reverse all changes to the previous state.

I reinstalled Antivirus XP and uninstalled it. It worked. I installed AVAST AV. IT found 9 viruses or virus traces. ANTIVIRUS XP was only finding 1 or none a week. I was checking it once a week.

Thank you all. smile.gif
