I have IE, FireFox and Opera. The only time I use IE is to do the scan on MS web site to get Windows updates. I use FireFox all the time. I tried Opera because I read it loads web pages faster than FireFox. I still have Opera but don't use it. My opinion of Opera is that it doesn't load pages all that much faster than FF, in fact I can't tell much difference. I prefer FF with the extensions I have installed better than Opera.

I have IE7, Firefox, Opera and Avant browsers installed. Usually I use Opera because I like the clean interface and speed (of the application itself not just loading of webpages). However, some sites (very few) still don't load perfectly in Opera. That's when I use Avant browser. Really like the smooth, compact interface and they claim on their home page to be the Fastest Browser On Earth:

Had a try of Maxthon but compared to Avant its clunky and top heavy.

Avant for me was slow & stalled my PC. I thought it was because it took up a lot of resources due to it's extra web developer features.

I've now grown to like IE7 quite a bit, but FF2 isn't bad either. IE7 has much nicer text/fonts, but it doesn't work on my laptop with the default HR scaling on.

Installed? Well, I've got IE because it's mandatory (it's the f*cking default Windows browser) and also FF2 because it's just the best.

I have two, IE7 and Firefox. Both are on my taskbar by START. For some odd reason, if I'm already in a session with IE and need a second web access at the same time, I'll fire up FF or visa versa-just personal weirdness.

FF will not download my bank statements from my online banking site--oddly enough, the extension on these files appears different when viewed with FF than with IE and FF doesn't recognize them. The folks at the bank's website help desk told me that their site was not 100% compatible with anything but IE.

I've had some unhappy times with spanking new versions of IE. When IE first came out years ago, I was first in line. I bought it on CD and it promptly destroyed Windows. I ended up having to reformat C:\. A few months ago when IE7 appeared, I was, again, right up front. Again, crash goes Windows (crash, bang, splinter, shatter), requiring a full re-install. Hopefully, I've learned to wait a couple of months before installing a new version of IE, until they fix any problems.

By the way, if you ever have to do a reinstall of Windows, be prepared to lose everything in "My Documents" (including the default location for MS Word files) or "My Pictures." The operating system warns you about this when you start the reinstall, but if the OS is trashed, what ya gonna do? Well, now none of my documents, Word files, photos or anything with valued permanence is stored on C:\. I store everything on an external hard drive (they are cheap and getting cheaper) and then back that up regularly to CD or DVD, depending on how much backup is needed.

I'm having so much trouble with IE7. Lots of sites refuse to load completely including microsoft's own live.com The loading status is done but I'm faced with a blank screen. And Microsoft refuse to allow FIrefox or Opera load their sites properly biggrin.gif

Backing to an external drive is a great idea. I use Acronis True Image to image the entire HDD.

You mean there are other browsers than FireFox? laugh.gif Oh yeah, there's Opera. And there's IE on my machine, but I don't use it very often.

I shouldn't forget to add Vista with IE and Avant on one of my other machines.

I have 3 - Opera, Firefox and IE7. And I use them in that order. I'm hearing that Firefox 3 is really fast (faster than Opera), so I'm looking forward to trying it - I think they have one more beta release before they release the final version 3.
