Thanks, I always wanted to get a freeware "partition magic " replacement...

I have a question about this software:

If, for example, I had windows installed on an 80GB harddrive (single partition, C:), and had about 50G free space, would this software allow me to make, say, a 40GB partition from the empty space WITHOUT disturbing my original files, programs and operating system???

Basically can it partition empty space "actively" without doing a full format and losing the current data?
Actively add, remove, edit partitions, etc.?

I havent got time to try out this software ATM, but if it can, that is a really good piece of software!
I dont expect you to try this software for me, only answer if you already know, otherwise, I will do it in the new year

I don't know. Didn't try it with this application.
I use GParted. It's also freeware but a lot better.

Hmmm...I've had problems with freeware partition Managers in the past. Not really sure which file systems Cute Partition Manager supports (screenshot only shows FAT32). I'd say use at your own risk and backup before trying anything. GParted looks more promising but I'll be sticking with Partition Magic

Hi, You can however use partition manage tool named "Super Fdisk 1.0". This soft was always able to manage your partitions. And the most fascinating feature of it is that it's free!

Actually, there is no tool like PowerQuest PartitionMagic. Maybe it's the only category where freeware don't beat the paid software.

I use partition magic 8.0,

and it can work in windows XP.
